Kenneth Pham

As an operator turned investor and entrepreneur with over 10+ years of extensive SaaS and technology expertise in the start-up space, Kenneth has held Senior-level finance roles at establishments like Aviva Canada, Top Hat, and Viafoura.  Before start-ups, Kenneth was in Management Consulting for EY & Deloitte.

He loves everything that is statistically in nature and has a great love for exciting technologies that are disruptive and innovating. 

Melissa-France Heredia

Regional Market Lead

Melissa-France Heredia is Regional Market Lead for Technology & Innovation Banking overseeing the Quebec team focused on helping founders’ access flexible growth capital for any stage. 

Melissa has over 13 years of experience working with Quebec-based Entrepreneurs and Investors, to support the unique financial needs of Emerging and Growth stage companies, with a deep focus on M&A activity. 

Lea Roth

Senior Associate, Ventures 

Lea has over 6 years of senior and subordinated debt experience, working with some of the fastest growing technology companies in Quebec in supporting their growth ambitions. 

Prior to joining TIB, Lea was specialized in underwriting large ticket term debt, sub-debt and mezzanine financing. 

One of Lea’s favorite quotes is from Nel deGrasse Tyson, “We are stardust brought to life, then empowered by the universe to figure itself out…”; Everyday founders and entrepreneurs are problem solving and finding their path to success, and Lea’s goal is to help them get there. 

Vernon Briggs III

Principal, Ventures
Calgary Office

Vernon Briggs is a Principal with the Technology & Innovation Banking group serving the Alberta Marketplace with the focus on growing Technology and IP related companies of all stages.  Vernon began his career as a Technology Entrepreneur in Southern California and knows first hand the challenges that entrepreneurs face when working to build companies that create enduring value in the marketplace.  His first company was a PaaS (“Platform as a Service”) offering that was acquired by a managed service provider in Aliso Viejo, CA and his second company was involved in international payment processing up until 2007.

Vernon transitioned into Investment Banking in Southern California and then in Private Equity.  He has over 20 years of experience in Financial Services in Leadership, Strategy, Finance, Commercial & Merchant Banking.

Vernon holds an MBA from the University of California, Irvine with a Strategy and Finance focus and an BA from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.

Neelam Brar

Director, Western Canada Market Lead

Neelam Brar is the Director of Western Canada for Roynat Capital’s Technology & Innovation Banking group overseeing a team focused on investing in visionary entrepreneurs at all stages of growth. Neelam’s team specializes in structuring tailored financing solutions as well as services that extend beyond capital to accelerate growth.

Neelam has over 20 years of experience working with technology startups, Fortune 500’s and institutional investors across many industries globally. As an investment banker turned entrepreneur, she approaches all investments as an experienced partner applying a dual lens to maximize both growth and flexibility at all stages.

Neelam holds an Executive MBA from the Columbia Business School and an MBA from the London Business School. 

Johnny Dewan

Principal
Vancouver

Johnny Dewan is a Principal with the Technology and Innovation Banking group where he covers Technology companies of all stages in British Columbia. He brings over 5 years of financial services experience and 2 years of technology sector experience at UrtheCast Corp. (TSX: UR), a satellite earth observation and geo-analytics company, where he played a critical role in the corporate finance, M&A and restructuring efforts. He raised over $15M in capital, integrated a French-American acquisition, restructured two business segments in Canada and Spain, and ultimately delisted and sold the company to a New York based private equity fund.

Johnny graduated with a BBA from the Beedie School of Business at Simon Fraser University and has studied at the London School of Economics.

Matt was appointed Senior Vice President & Head, Roynat Capital, in November 2018. In this role, he has national responsibility for Roynat Distribution and Equity across our network of Canadian offices. Matt brings over 20 years’ experience of complex transaction experience and has a strong track record of managing people and delivering results. 
 
Prior to joining Scotiabank, Matt held a series of increasingly progressive roles at KPMG LLP (Canada & Americas). In his most recent role, Matt was Head of Deal Advisory, Americas, and was responsible for the growth and development of KPMG’s Deal Advisory business in Central and South America, including leadership selection and development. At the same time, Matt was the Global Lead Partner for a major public pension plan relationship, managing more than 70 KPMG partners in 10 countries. 
 
He holds a Masters of Business Administration degree from the Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto, and is a Certified Professional Accountant. 
 
He and his wife, Liz, have three sons.

Jason Barr

Jason is active in many community organizations and is a member of the Institute of Corporate Directors. He is a graduate of the MBA and Bachelor of Commerce programs from the Edwards School of Business at the University of Saskatchewan and has completed an Executive Education program at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Business.

David Rozin is the Vice President & Head of Roynat’s Technology & Innovation Banking group overseeing a national team focused on supporting Technology companies of all stages, including venture. For over a decade Mr. Rozin has been keenly focused on the Technology sector, working with some of Canada’s most successful innovators and investors. Over this time, Mr. Rozin has developed deep subject matter expertise to support the unique financial needs of Technology entrepreneurs, spanning all life stages and sectors, including Clean Technology. 

Mr. Rozin has over 20 years of experience in Financial Services with roles across Strategy, Finance and Commercial banking and holds an MBA from the Rotman School of Management (University of Toronto) and earned a BA in Economics from Concordia University in Montreal.

Mark Saidi 

Vice-President, Risk Management

Mark Saidi joined Roynat Capital as Vice President, Risk Management in May 2018. He is responsible for contributing to the quality growth of Roynat's Technology & Innovation Banking, Term Debt, Subordinated Debt, Mezzanine and Equity investment portfolios by overseeing all components of credit and risk management.

Mark has over 15 years’ experience in the commercial mid-market space as an account manager as well as leading distribution teams, credit risk management and special loans teams across Canada.

Prior to joining to Roynat Capital, Mark held progressively senior roles at a leading Canadian Financial institution. In his most recent role, Mark was responsible for mid-market credit risk management and special loans for the Prairie Region. Before becoming a Banker, Mark was a not for profit consultant in Ontario leading major gift and capital campaigns for various hospitals and universities.

Mark holds an MBA in specializing Finance from the Asper School of Business at the University of Manitoba. He is an active member of the community previously serving on boards for industry associations and for a hospital. 

He and his wife Julia reside in Calgary with their three children and enjoys spending outdoor time with them in the Rockies.

Mark Brodkin 

Managing Director and Head
Roynat Equity Partners

As Managing Director and Head of Roynat Equity Partners, Mark is responsible for leading all aspects of the investment process, including sourcing, transaction execution and portfolio oversight. His mandate is to focus on opportunities across Canada and ensure that both Roynat Equity Partners’ and its portfolio companies’ goals are met.  

Mark has extensive experience with investments and operations in small and medium sized businesses. Prior to joining Roynat, he was the head of Mergers and Acquisitions at Lynx Equity, a Toronto-based diversified private equity firm focused on acquiring small and medium-sized businesses. At Lynx, Mark was responsible for sourcing and executing new acquisitions, monitoring and overseeing existing portfolio companies, and developing the firm’s strategic direction. During his tenure at Lynx, the portfolio grew to 45 operating businesses with revenue in excess of $400M CAD.  

Prior to working at Lynx, Mark was the CEO and founder of OutdoorPartnerMedia which grew to be a publicly-traded company with a market capitalization of $60 million and displays in major cities in the United States. Prior to founding OutdoorPartner, Mark worked as an investment banking professional at Salomon Smith Barney in New York, and a corporate lawyer at Heenan Blaikie in Toronto.  

Mark received an LL.B/MBA from the University of Toronto, where he won the Hewlett Packard Award for top performance in Finance. He also graduated with honours from the University of Western Ontario with a B.A. in social science and statistics.
